Yes, I’m losing it, as predicted I would. Calls started going out this week and to my knowledge, State is dipping pretty deeply into the Public Diplomacy register. One of my fellow candidates ranked at #18 just got notice. For reference, her score at the OAs was 5.67, whereas mine was a 5.5.
Now, please bear in mind that my rank has not necessarily skyrocketed, but that people ahead of me probably elected to decline an offer this time around (State allows for two deferments before removing a candidate from the registers permanently). When that happens, they simply go to the next name on the list until somebody accepts.
But even so –
WAUGH!
EDIT: Apparently, I have not explained myself well enough. NO, I probably won’t get a call this round, but it means I probably will have a good shot at September. I am hovering somewhere in the 30s on the PD register (remember, this is a list of 80-ish people), and so far, they’ve only gotten up to 18 or so. A good rule of thumb is: LOWER rank = BETTER chances.
