Serious Effing Business

Serious Business

In this corner, weighing in at the size of the average white guy: Hal “White Power” Turner! And, in the other corner, weighing in at however much a few thousand children with too little to do and too much time on their hands: The 4Chan Forum /b/tards!

What happens when we pit the two against each other? Read on and see!

iStache

In an effort to keep the gimmick of an integrated camera in Apple laptops interesting, the good folks at NotDustin.com created a little program called iStache. As the name indicates, you can take any picture on your hard drive (not necessarily those taken with an iSight, though I suppose that was the idea behind it), import it into the program, and add a moustache from a variety of styles. The one I currently sport is called “Poe Poe”:iStacheMe

However, one can also choose from, for example, “Straight Gayness,” or “The 6:30,” or for the calcium-motivated, “Got Milk?”

iStache is compatible with any Macintosh computer with OS X 10.4 Tiger. You can download it here.

I Got Tagged, Yo

Since my ol’ pal/co-worker Scott decided to continue this game of Tag, by all the standard unwritten by-laws of the blog world, I am now obliged to post 5 Things You Don’t Know About Me (And Were Probably Better Off Not Knowing, Anyway):

  1. I’ve lived in Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, Maine, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Kentucky, and (currently) North Carolina. No, I’m not an Army brat. My dad’s an anesthetist.
  2. I really like horses, and I don’t know why. To illustrate this point, here is a random picture of me with a horse:
    Baxter and I
  3. I was homeschooled for exactly one year (third grade). I missed my friends, so I called it quits and went back.
  4. One of my life goals is to own and operate a coffee house with my sister.
  5. I, too, was at the past Olympics, though the curling venue at Pinerolo offered a slightly different experience:curling 2

So, there you go. To continue the fun, I hereby tag Marianne, Wyman, and Laura. Have fun, kids.

Number 9 makes me worry for little Garrett. But maybe he just likes hunting.

I Wish it was Snowing

I met an ex-photographer from the National Geographic today. While I write up my experience, enjoy a bit of fluff that most of you have probably gotten in an email forward already:

Carols for the Psychologically Challenged

Cry Me a River

This is the mission statement for PlanetFeedback.com:

Throughout the history of commerce, consumers have been at a disadvantage. They’ve had less information than sellers. And less access to one another. They’ve had fewer ways to offer feedback. And fewer choices.

The Internet changes that. The Internet closes the gap that has always separated merchant from consumer. The Internet creates smarter, stronger consumers.

At PlanetFeedback, we are passionately committed to helping consumers use their new power. Here is what we believe. And what we will always do.

Seems like a good idea, yes?

Oh, Right. This is Still Here

I apologize for the dearth of content as of late, but considering that I’m plowing through 16.5 credit hours’ worth of finals, I don’t exactly have too much time to spare. At any rate, read on for the final (and a bit dated) column that I wrote for the campus newspaper.
